Leslie D Weinberg

Leslie D. Weinberg is a photographer, writer, documentary film maker and publisher of her company, Aker Press, making pictorial books both informative and entertaining.  With roots in writing and photojournalism, Leslie has been taking photos for most of her life, documenting events around her, based at her home base in Florida. 

  Leslie worked as both writer and photographer for the Palm Beach Post and the Palm Beach Daily News for several before foraging her own path to Paris, where she was a freelance writer/photographer and intern to many fashion photographers at Elle Paris, as well as numerous other publications including Art News and the Paris Free Voice. 

A Palm Beach Picture Book, a black & white photo folio of the antics and nature of her adopted town, the first of it’s kind, was first published in the mid-80’s.  She started Aker Press to republish the same book, then out-of-print book in color in 2011, and subsequently publishing the third edition of the book in 2019. Leslie then shifted her focus to film , attaining an MFA in film directing at Columbia University in the early 2000’s 

Currently author Leslie, is working on several new picture books, the first about the glories of Travelling Solo, the second, delves into Spirit Houses in Thailand, and the third a sequel of the children’s book, Rainbow Journey The film maker Leslie is also working on a documentary, Left-Out, about left-handedness.
